20 Years of Photography
Exactly twenty years ago on the 31st January 2004, I’d been asked to capture my very first wedding.
Fresh out of university with my 35mm film camera, a long lens and flash on loan from a friend and several rolls of film.
Off I went to capture, what would be the first of many weddings and a career spanning 20 years,
Including winning the very first ‘Kent Wedding Photographer of the year‘ award title. I have built relationships with the teams
at many beautiful established venues and had the privilege to work with many couples & families, some of which I’m now lucky to call my friends.
When I think back to that day, the nerves, excitement, visual inspiration and the joy…. Oh my, the enjoyment from the creativity I could delve into.
20 years on and that feeling is very much still there for each and every wedding and shoot.
Over the years I’ve seen so many changes in style, equipment, the transition from film to digital, the birth of the storybook, a pandemic, and every wedding fad, trend come in, go and then come back again. It really has been the best adventure! With lots of ups and a few difficult moments.
As they say, every day is a school day and in my job this couldn’t be more relevant..I’ve learnt so many things along the way, including doing up many dresses :).
My role is not only being a photographer, but also an organiser, helper, confidence builder and also to provide the buzz, bringing the fun and hype through creative inspiration. To bring a sense of calmness and sometimes even comfort. There is so so much, patience playing a massive part and thinking quickly, yet on the outside demonstrating professionalism and natural creative flow.

As I celebrate this wonderful milestone I want to take a moment to acknowledge my team around me, whom I could not have done it without, from my husband and rock, my gorgeous children that allow me to practise any crazy ideas with 🙂 My family and supportive friends who recommend me, like, share posts and genuinely support my passion 110% I’m eternally grateful for this!. My work family and fellow photographers I’ve worked with throughout the years. My side kick and wonderful assistant Julie, keeping me organised at all times. And of course, YOU, my clients, each and every one of you have helped build my business by working with me and asking me to capture such important and special moments of your life.
By way of marking my anniversary, I’ve had a very exciting little bit of rebranding, do check out my new site www.nphotography.co.uk a big thank you to Nathan from LDW Design. Anyone looking for a great website and superb service, look no further.
As an additional service I’m now sharing the knowledge I’ve gained throughout the years through my educational photographic courses for adults and children. Whether it’s simple tips and tricks, through to understanding SLR settings. As well as seminars, after school clubs and more, which I’ve been taking part in for the past year or so.
If you want to know a little more, this is now available to view on my website.
Thank you all again, I’ll be raising a glass this evening to 20 fantastic years!
Do LIKE or SHARE if I captured something special for you.
Always lovely to hear and recall wonderful memories throughout the years!
